Messages are defined for getting cached pages, retrieving spelling suggestions, and searching the Google document index. SOAP technicalities like ports, bindings and endpoints are also defined but omitted here. Ports are similar to CORBA IDL interfaces in that they define a set of callable functions; bindings define the incoming and outgoing messages per function; and endpoints specify the URL at which the service is available. All of this information can be used to automatically generate client code.
The SDK is available at http://www.google.com/apis/download.html.
If you want to remotely call Google you need to create an account at http://www.google.com/apis/, providing your email address and a password. There is also a newsgroup at google.public.web-apis and a support email at api-support@google.com.
In an upcoming installment we are going to use the SDK to provide a 3D interface to the search results, using our previously acquired knowledge of SVG. Hope to see you there!
