Hiermenus Go Forth*, XX:
Version 4.0.13 - The Complete Script (Full-Window)
Note: The NS4 script for Version 4.0.13 contained an error when published on July 12. A new version was posted on July 13 2001.
Welcome to another HM interim release.
Version 4.0.13 includes:
One major improvement. The "more" image denoting a related child menu for an item can now be part of the rollover behavior. That is, the image can be swapped for one of a different color creating a true rollover effect for menu items.
Two minor fixes:
Popup menus can never appear under permanent menus.
Duplicate timers connected with the new HM_ChildSecondsVisible parameter are avoided.
One courtesy author-syntax check.
Unnecessary trailing commas in menu arrays, overlooked by authors, caused an error in IE. The array syntax is now checked and corrected by the HM script.
Our HierMenus columns can be appreciated by all DHTML developers and
HierMenus fans. If you plan to use HierMenus on your own Web site,
however, you will need to purchase a HierMenus license. Contact
Barry Pullen via our
contact form
or call him at (203) 662-2868 for further information (be
sure to let her know how you plan to use HierMenus and tell him a bit
about your organization, as well).
As always, there is no documentation other than that already presented in previous columns. However, all the parameters used in the script are described in detail. Just about everything you need to know about using the script has been published in Columns 36 to 42. Additional minor information has been included in the release columns (43 to 55), usually pertaining to a adjustment introduced in the particular release.

Most of the mail still revolves around questions answered in the FAQ: HM FAQ. Please check these for a possible answer to your problem.
We cannot provide additional instructions at this time. They will be forthcoming, along with detailed discussion of the code once Version 4 is rock-stable.
The menu look and behavior in the download is only one of many possible look-behavior combinations. The parameters discussed in columns 36 --> 42 achieve menu customization. Please familiarize yourself with these.
